Update

31 10 2012

Since our last post, we survived the weekend including live music by local musicians and ridiculous dancing performed by us.

The last three days we spent in Koubri for intensive field sampling. Sebi saw our first crocodile but the fisherman (dumdum) was not impressed at all.

The bloody hand is a collection of bloody malaria mosqito killed by Sebi.

The other pictures show some  meetingswe had.

24.10.: Today we had some lectures from Andi and we showed the Burkianbe students some Data analyses in Excel. In the afternoon we met Botschaftsrat Dr. Walter Ehmeier from the Koordinationsbuero fuer Entwicklungszusammenarbeit der Oesterreichischen Botschaft Dakar in Ouagadougou.
25.10.: We finally made it to buy an internetstick. It took us 2 hours and waiting at 4 different desks with own waitingnumbers to get it. So now we are online, but with very limited download rates.

As you see on the pictures, its not only us catching fish…
Yesterday we were invited to Raymond, the local project coordinator. He told us that in Burkina you only become friends if you were invited to his house once, cause than you know were you can find him.

Today there was a meeting of all project members and all students (burkinabe and austrian) gave presentations on their work. It was quiet a cold day in the airconditioned fisheries department.

We returned from Naba Zana reservoir, and just had a swim in Andi’s and Otto’s hotel pool (we stay in a hostel).
Braught us back to life, it is incredibly hot and everybody is “fatigue”.
We are invited to Raymonds place (the local project coordinator) for dinner, looking forward to!
Sunny greetings!
